Officer Reports

President
  • Last month we consented to creation of a policy document, but no work has happened on it.
    • Over the next month, I'd like to put it together.
    • It could be a nice packet that gives new and current members everything they need to get the most out of membership
  • Lightning Talks: Huge success! Big thanks to everyone.
    • Need reminders to NOT TALK DURING TALKS.
    • Food signup
      • Three sets of Pita chips, little else.
    • Lots of new faces; it's incredible how well known we're getting in the area. We need to keep up the good work!
      • Inviting people in, hosting talks, and providing and event-space for like-minded groups
  • Intro to electronics class, coming up this Saturday: http://www.meetup.com/splatspace/events/16724170/
  • The Winston-Salem Hackerspace is a go
    • Had a phone call with Neil Underwood, Winston-salem hackerspacist
      • They found a space for $180/mo!
      • They're interested in allying with us, and operating under the same name.
          • We need to investigate the pros and cons of an NC hackerspace umbrella org.
            • Pros: Sharing insurance, sharing 501c3 stuff
            • Cons: Lot of work, is it worth it?
            • We can always just point other hackerspaces to our resources.
          • Would this be less than it's worth? any pitfalls? ways it would be great?
          • This moved to wiki pages.
Vice-President
  • Down with the idea of resource sharing between NC hackerspaces.
  • Thinks this is the year that Raleigh is likely to start its space.
  • Digresses into mindstorms...look at member reports.
  • Hackerspaces global call in this Saturday at 4pm.
    • Chance to build the global community.
Treasurer
  • Extremely slow progress made on all online transactions
    • BB&T requires more costs than expected
      • $150 signup and $10 a month
  • Paypal: $1834.96, balance forward of ~$940
  • BB&T: $592.61, balance forward of ~$400
Secretary
  • Reiteration of spam issues on wiki.
    • Best to sign up now, in case the wiki does need to be locked down.
Public Relations
  • No press release for the Lightening talks, more people
    • Is press release worth it?

Old Business

  • No old business

New Business

Move payment process etc to BB&T
  • It will cost $150 up front, and $10 recurring monthly
    • $150 up front includes Authorize.net, which works with our donated Spreedly
