I got confirmation from the Durham Library that there is time enough for us to put together a children's Scratch day. On May 18 at the East Regional from 2-4 PM there will be a Scratch programming workshop in the children's area. Looking for volunteers to help.

About three weeks ago we learned that Lulzbot was giving away a 3D printer to a space with the best story. We submitted our entry and SplatSpace is one of the winners! Many thanks to Daniel Davis.

Mike and I met with Malcolm White from Self Help Credit Union. Self Help does not own any buildings that would meet our needs, but if we have any questions about finding properties, he's worth contacting again. He suggested we get together and walk the downtown area and make notes of properties that look good.

Justis:

Bar Camp is going on a week from this Sunday. It's entirely volunteer-organized. I'm recruiting volunteers to work that day. See me if you're interested. Ask me why Bar Camp is so cool. It is on NC State Centennial Campus in Engineering Building II.

Scott Grandis will be doing a workshop at SparkCon to teach kids how to write code. I'd love for people to get involved and influence it.

I just finished Computational Photography, a 5 week course from Coursera, which I recommend. The class is a mix of image processing and computer vision to do neat things.

Geoffrey:

The summer session at Durham Tech Community College is starting soon. Several space members have taken welding classes.

Anna:

We're developing a photo booth that runs off a Raspberry Pi that posts pictures to Facebook for a university class. Looking for people to contribute to the project if you know Python.

Jeff:

I have been investigating a site HabitRPG (http://habitrpg.com), which gamifies tasks you want to improve by.

Edwin:

Recommends a cool app called Skywatch, a starfinding application for iPad and Android.
