Consent Agenda

Old Business

  • Equipment updates
    • 3D printers. (Andrew)
    • GlowForge laser cutter. (Ryan P)

New Business

Proposed Income Ideas Need approximately $500 / month

  • Requires a membership vote:

12) Membership dues increase

  • $60 Full Membership, $25 Associate for new members
  • voluntary increase for current members

(Another option might be offering a discount for auto-payments or long-term (annual) memberships.)

  • Needs someone(s) willing to lead the effort:

1) GoFundme (or similar crowdsourced fundraising)

2) Local business sponsorship. For example, Steven K.'s company Tierpoint makes regular donations to non-profits who apply via a form submitted quarterly.

3) Grants. Libraries have access to materials about available grants and grant writing. There may be a SplatSpace member with experience in grant writing, who might have time to offer some useful guidance.

4) Amazon Smile rewards (used to be registered as "Durham Makerspace", but needs to be reactivated or re-registered.)

5) Connect with local school systems to reach out to graduating high school seniors and college students. (Beth M. mentioned interest in doing this, another member mentioned preparing 16x9 aspect ratio image advertisements for display at schools.)

6) Connect with local homeschool association.

7) Offer paid workshops, training, or classes with proceeds going back to SplatSpace.

8 ) Keep a supply of posters (and window stickers or car magnets?) available for members to post or use. (edited)

9) Work with Indie Magazine, or solicit an article from a contact.

10) Advertise via local newspapers (NNO), or solicit an article from a contact.

11) Live walkthrough on YouTube (sponsored by DigiKey), mentioned by Caleb Kraft (of Make.co).

13) Invite and identify SplatSpace members willing to personally curate the SplatSpace web site, Twitter page, Instagram page, and Facebook page. Ideally, a different member for each one.
