Workshops at SplatSpace returns with the SplatSpace Knowledge Share series

  • 3D Printing With Resin hosted by Andrew Stowell organized by Brittney Merryweather
    Open only for SplatSpace members, all 10 spots are already reserved, but contact Brittney if you want to be added to the waiting list for any cancellations
    ATTENTION! The main classroom will be reserved during the duration of the workshop. Only participants of the workshop will be permitted to use the workstations in the main room at that time.
  • Learn to Solder! The TriBRAE meetup this month is moved to June 11 to avoid a conflict, and this is your chance to either learn to solder, or brush up your advanced skills.

  • Identify and maintain (online) lists of SMEs (subject matter experts) for each equipment or space. (No Update)
    • Scott will take the lead on this
  • Brittney is leading Splat workshops
    • She is always looking for leaders and folks that want to take the workshop (link to document)
  • Glowforges
    • Move one or both to the metal shop to keep the classroom more usable for events?
    • Brittney was able to perform maintenance on Jeff's forge
  • Hire a grant writer to apply for grants? Other fundraising applications.
  • Door issues
    • Shares circuit with the woodshop, gets tripped sometimes from the woodshop.
    • Discussed options for battery backup. Wifi would also be useful to have on a battery backup.
    • Lock broke again
    • -- Adam N. has fixed it by "rebooting" laptop power supply
    • -- Adam and Ryan looking at possibly installing one for the rear basement door as a backup
    • Blake worked with a locksmith company but they were beyond our budget


New Business

  • Lease renewal
    • Have not heard anything from landlord/owners
  • Brittney is going to make maintenance sheets for Glowforge and possibly other equipment
    • Will replace training forms

President
  • Have ordered T-Shirts for sale; working on setting a PayPal account for payments

  • Looking at new places to rent based on some discussion about our rent going up and maintenance issues
  • Looking for recommendations on what drinks to supply the fridge for donation (I get them from Costco)
  • Working on the TV


Vice-President
  • EBay sales working, stuff is still listed
  • Justin is the appointed single point of contact for UDI and Mr. Russell: please don't call Mr. Russell directly -- bring any issues to Justin, or contact board@splatspace.org
    • Bathrooms are now stocked with TP & paper towels, toilets are still dirty
    • No word yet about the thermostat.
    • I'll follow up with Mr. Russell later this week

Donations: Thank you to everyone who donates your time and effort to keeping SplatSpace going. Board members, Sunday cleanup crew, event leaders, and our fellow Raptorcorns!


Pending: SplatSpace's Charitable Solicitation License Exemption filing is due May 15, 2022, with the NC Secretary of State. Anyone want to help complete and submit it?

  • Scott:
    • Progress made on Electronics bench cleanup/upgrade; thank you to members participating and helping
    • Progress made on the SplatServer, adding capacity, reorganizing file structure, and making it available on the network. Input from members welcome - contact Scott.
    • Progress made on sorting & testing cables, mice & keyboards from donations & boneyard that are in the main room
    • Will be helping to clean the presentation table to make room for effort working on the A/V/media corner.
