Aloha Hackbar!

The Aloha Hackbar is a bar....for hacking. A person can come and sit at the bar (pronouncing the customary greeting, "Aloha, Hackbar", of course), hook up some connectors, select an arduino sketch and make the hackbar come alive with sounds, lights, motion, sensing, and any other foundational concepts of physical computing. Does the name call for a tiki theme? TBD.

The goal is to have something presentable for Makerfaire 2012. It could certainly make yearly appearences showing off it's most recently evolutionary advancements.

Here's an outline from the first known archeological evidence of it's existence as it appeared in an email from Drew to User:Taterpeel.

  • LED's
    • Single LED
    • On / off ie period
    • Light / dark ie PWM (maybe)
    • RGB LED
    • LED driver
    • On / off ie period
    • Effects? I'm not sure what all is possible with this
    • 7 Segment display
    • Via a driver or not. Maybe both?
  • Movement
    • Simple Gear motor
    • Attached to?
    • Stepper
    • is there a clever way to make people care about the difference between these and gear motors?
    • Servo
  • Switches
  • Toggles and arcade style
  • Sensors
    • What can be demoed effectively in this environment?
    • Photoresistor
    • Temp?
