Organizing Our Space

Goal: A more organized, less cluttered space.

Process:

  • Capture ideas on how to organize the space
  • Identify components (furniture? shelves? other?) needed
  • Put together a couple of proposals for review by the membership
  • Pick a proposal that has consensus support and implement it

Interested Parties:

  • Lisa
  • Ed
  • Peter
  • <add your name here!>

Ideas:

  • Need a must have / nice to have list

NICE TO HAVE:

1.At some point a safety shower would be nice. Be on the lookout for one removed from service. -ed

2.I think I can get used CO2 fire extinguishers They don't make a mess and work well on equipment - not so well on furniture, rugs, paper where water can do a great job (or more expensively Dry Chemical). -ed

NEED TO HAVE:

1. A place for everything that it owns.

1.1 A standard way of describing everything.

1.2 A beginning to an inventory system. If we need something, it would be nice to realize that it was here and under whose domain.

2. Areas of responsibility for the contents.- a shelf, desk, cabinet, etc.

3. Clear designation of what is available to do with as you wish. The implication is that if it does not have that designation, you need authorization and support from the owner.

4. We need some way to assign ownership or availability to everything in the space.

5. Remember clearly the true meaning of ASSUME is to make an ASS out of U and ME.

6. This place is fun. The only way it can be fun is for no one to infringe on other's rights and vice versa.
